A man has been charged following the death of another man in Ellon.

A 44-year-old was arrested yesterday in connection with the death of Martin Forgie – though is now due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

Officers were made aware of Martin’s death in a home in Gordon Place around 8.35pm on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 44-year-old man who was arrested following the death of a 36-year-old man in Ellon has now been charged in connection with the death.

“He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, 14 October, 2024.

“Around 8.35pm on Wednesday, 9 October, 2024, officers were made aware of the death of Martin Forgie within a property in Gordon Place."

Martin's family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, they said: "Martin was a much loved son, brother, father, nephew, grandson and uncle.

"He will be greatly missed.

"We ask for our privacy as a family to be respected at this difficult time."

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
