There are fears for a 15-year-old boy who has gone missing in an Angus river.

Emergency services races to the scene in the River North Esk near Edzell last night after being made aware the teenager had got into difficulties.

Two water rescue units and three fire appliances were at the scene near to the Blue Door at the Gannochy Bridge and the frantic search for the boy continues.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were made aware of a 15-year-old boy in difficulty in the water in the River North Esk near Gannochy Bridge, Edzell, around 5.10pm on Saturday, 15 July, 2023.

“Emergency services remain in attendance and searches are ongoing. The boy’s next of kin are aware.”
