Elderly man dies after A96 crash

An elderly pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car on the A96 in Aberdeenshire.

It happened around 7.15am on the Huntly to Inverurie Road at Colpy and involved a blue Ford Fiesta.

The 26-year-old woman behind the wheel was uninjured.

Officers say the 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie of the North East Road Policing Unit said " My thoughts are with the family of the man who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"I would like to thank the members of the public that stopped and assisted at the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage to contact Police on 101, quoting incident number 0517 of the 21 February, 2025.”

The route at Colpy has since reopened.
