International pop superstar Britney Spears has caught the attention of North East fans with a picture of an historic Aberdeenshire castle on her social media.

The 'Oops...I Did It Again' singer raised a few eyebrows on Wednesday evening as a picture of Craigievar Castle appeared on her Instagram feed.

Talking to her 42 million followers, Britney expressed her love for her fans writing: "I REALLY REALLY LOVE Y'ALL" next to a pink heart and castle emoji.

Craigievar Castle - which is a popular destination for tourists - is famous for its dusty pink exterior and association with a Disney film.

It's thought the 16th century castle handed inspiration to Walt Disney's Cinderella castle.

Britney credited the photo to a photographer and it's unknown if the singer has ever visited Aberdeenshire.

National Trust for Scotland, who own the castle, posted on X asking to hear people's theories about the mysterious message.
