A dog café on Aberdeen's esplanade is closing its doors from as early as next month.

Barking Mad Café and Cakes opened just months before the pandemic hit the UK.

In a statement on Facebook, they said that, coupled with inflation, left them with little choice but to close.

"It is with a heavy heart that Barking Mad dog friendly café at Aberdeen beachfront will be closing its doors end of July or August 2023, this is dependant on finding a new buyer.

"It has been a very fraught four years, opening only four months before Covid hit, then inflation etc.

"It had always been my dream to own a café, so after 44 years of nursing I decided to take the plunge.

"Unfortunately, I chose the wrong time to do this. If only I had a crystal ball.

"My team and I would like to thank all out furry friends and their Hoomans for the support you have shown us."
