Tina Turner's 40th anniversary edition of her breakthrough album 'Private Dancer' has finally arrived! The album also features her recently unearthed track 'Hot For You Baby'.
The singer, who sadly passed away in 2023, at the age of 83, released 'Private Dancer' in 1984, featuring songs like 'What's Love Got to Do with It', Let's Stay Together' and the iconic title track.
Anniversary edition of 'Private Dancer'
The anniversary edition of 'Private Dancer', along with 'Hot For You Baby' features other previously unreleased tracks, along with live performances and footage of the legendary singer. It also includes a 55-minute 'Private Dancer Tour' show filmed at Birmingham’s NEC across two nights in March 1985.
Despite releasing several albums before 'Private Dancer', it was this album which gave Tina her real breakthrough across the world. Giving her the first of several Top 5 albums in the UK. 'Private Dancer' was nominated for album of the year at the 1985 Grammys, and 'What’s Love Got To Do With It' and 'Better Be Good To Me' both won Grammy Awards.
Three weeks before the release of the re-issued album, fans were given a insight into what to expect from the new release. In an Instagram post fans were shown the different versions of the album, which is available in several formats.
'Hot For You Baby'
The album includes the recently unearthed song by Tina called 'Hot For You Baby'. The song was written by Australian duo George Young and Harry Vanda and produced by John Carter, who worked on her breakthrough album. The song was originally intended for release on 'Private Dancer', however it was later decided to replace it with another song.
'Hot For You Baby' was found when her label were going through the archives for the 40th anniversary edition of Tina's breakthrough album.
Following the release of the song, Joan Armatrading was asked to give her thoughts on the new song. She said: "It's very rocky, it's a very up track, it's a very dancey track. I think when I'm listening to this I can definitely see her dancing to this, I can definitely see the little feet going!"
