Body of woman discovered in Rainhill as police launch investigation

Merseyside Police have said they have found the body of a woman in a field near Rainhill.

Officers were called to a field near Stoney Lane and Hemmingsway in the town early on Sunday morning (October 20th).

Reports from a member of the public had said that a body had been found just before 8:35am in the area.

Police confirmed that a body had been found and that investigations were now being launched to uncover the cause of her death.

Currently, Merseyside Police said that they are treating the woman's death as "unexplained", but there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her passing.

Meanwhile, enquiries are now ongoing to discover the woman's next of kin so that they can be informed of her death.

Police cordons remain in place as forensic investigations into the area where the woman's body was found continue.
