It’s been anything but a Cruel Summer for Bananarama with original members Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward celebrating the release earlier this year of compilation album Glorious – The Ultimate Collection. With over 30million records sold the band still hold a Guinness World Record for the most chart entries by an all-female group with 32 singles reaching the Top 50 between 1982 and 2009 – that’s Really Sayin’ Something!

Kim Wilde is another record holder as the most charted British female solo act of the 1980s, when she had 17 Top 40 singles including her greatest hits Kids in America, You Keep Me Hangin’ On and You Came.

The Grammy award winning Soul II Soul, led by founder and producer Jazzie B, found fame in the late 80s with two massive back-to-back hits – Keep On Movin and Back to Life. Still festival favourites over three decades on, the band also featured in Disney+ recent music documentary, Camden, earlier this year.

Who performed at Greatest Hits Radio Live last year?

We saw incredible performances at the show from OMD, who raised the roof with plenty of hits including 'Enola Gay' and 'Sailing On The Seven Seas', plus fan favourite Paul Carrack who performed chart-topping tracks 'How Long' and 'Over My Shoulder'.

West End star Ian McIntosh - who previously performed in We Will Rock You as Galileo - also paid tribute to the music of Queen with a haunting rendition of 'The Show Must Go On', and we also saw The Greatest Hits Radio Band with special guest vocalists Ashton Jones and Sharlene Hector take to the stage, as well as Jersey Boys star Luke Suri performing as Frankie Valli.

Last year, the world of music lost one of its all-time greats, and it felt right to recognise Tina Turner and her astounding career. In a showstopping moment, Elesha Paul Moses from Tina: The Tina Turner Musical celebrated her life with a spine-tingling performance of '(Simply) The Best'.
