Woman in 'critical condition' in hospital after fire at Nottingham house

Police are questioning a man on suspicion of attempted murder

Nottinghamshire Police are questioning a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a fire at a house.

A woman in her 40s is in a critical condition in hospital after emergency services were called to reports of a blaze on Forster Street on Friday (01/03).

The 62-year-old man is still being questioned by police.

Detective Inspector Amy Revill, who is investigating the incident, said:

"We are currently treating this incident as arson and have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder"

"Our thoughts are very much with the victim and her family who is currently in hospital in what has been described as a critical condition."

"We are working extremely hard to build up a picture of what has happened. We know there was quite a few people at the scene on Friday."

"We have already spoken to a number of people as part of our investigation."

"We would very much like to speak to those people as this could very much help with our investigation. Anyone with dash cam footage from the area before, during or after the fire broke out are also being urged to come forward."

"We know this incident will have alarmed the local community and there will be an increased presence in the area. If you have any concerns, then please do talk to one of our officers."

The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their investigation.
