Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Nottingham city centre have charged three men with murder.

Father-of-two Ricardo Cotteral, aged 33, was attacked in Broad Street shortly before 2am on Sunday 24 April.

He died a short time later after collapsing in nearby Lower Parliament Street.

Wade Smith, aged 36, of Helmsdale Gardens, Top Valley, has been charged with murder.

Ijah Lavelle Moore, aged 30, of Woodfield Road, Broxtowe, and Daniel Francis, aged 26, of Shakespeare Street, Nottingham city centre, have also been charged with murder.

All three men have been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court later today (Friday).

Investigations are ongoing and police say they've stepped up patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the public.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Dean, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This has been a very fast-moving investigation and I am pleased we have now been able to bring charges against three suspects.

“Detectives are continuing to work around the clock to review all available evidence and our thoughts remain with Ricardo’s family at this difficult time.”
