Police investigate a stabbing in Leicester

A police inquiry is underway following an incident in the Wellington Street area of Leicester, just after 7am yesterday morning (Sunday).

A man in his 20s, tuned up at a hospital with what are believed to be stab wound injuries. The victim is receiving treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Detective Sergeant Jim Muzzell said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and are appealing to anyone who was in the area earlier this morning, and who has any information they think may help, to get in touch with us.

“Did you see or hear anything that caused you concern? Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV from the area that could help our enquiries? If you think you can help in any way, then please get in touch.

“Thank you to the local community for your ongoing support and co-operation with us while the cordon remained in place this morning. Please do continue to speak with officers in the area regarding any concerns or information you have.”
