A serving Nottinghamshire police officer's been charged with assaulting a teenage girl.

Pc Kevin Markowski allegedly carried out the attack on the 16 year old in the back of a police car while she was being detained.

The 46 year old's accused of assault by beating and non-fatal intentional strangulation of a child, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said.

The police watchdog said the allegations came after an incident in Arnold on August 24th, 2022.

The charges came after an investigation by the IOPC in October, and followed a referral from the constable's employing force.

Markowski is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Police statement

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said:
