A man has appeared in court in connection with a stabbing in Mansfield that took place on Christmas Day.

Mark Fugler, 58, entered a not-guilty plea for the offence at a hearing at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday morning (December 27th).

Currently, Mr Fugler is charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after emergency services were called to an incident on Southwell Road West in Mansfield on Christmas Day at 7:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his twenties with substantial abdominal wounds. He was taken to hospital later that day, where he remains in a serious condition.

Fugler, who lives at Southwell Road West, has been released on unconditional bail in relation to the incident and will not appear at Nottingham Crown Court until January 24th.

Speaking about the case, Detective Sergeant Dave Nicks from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Knife crime can have a devastating impact people’s lives and is always treated with the utmost seriousness.

“I am pleased we have been able to bring a charge in this case and our investigation will continue.”
