Man injured after partial building collapse in Leicester

Police have been in Leicester city centre following a report of a partial building collapse.

Emergency services were called at 11.55am today (15 September) to Church Gate near to the junction with Haymarket.

It is believed one man has sustained a head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A cordon is currently in place and officers are assisting with a number of nearby buildings that are being evacuated as a precaution.

Officers remain at the scene to maintain the cordon currently in place and assist colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, who are leading on the incident at this time.
