Detectives investigating a stabbing in the Willow Street area of the city are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police were called by East Midlands Ambulance Service just after 9pm yesterday (Friday 28 April) after a man was found with an injury to his neck.

It is believed the man, who is in his 20s, was stabbed with a knife close to the junction of Wanlip Street and Lower Willow Street before walking a short distance along the road.

He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Officers are continuing to carry out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and would ask anyone who may have information to contact police.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Sergeant Nick Woodrow said:

“We urge anyone who was in the area of Wanlip Street, Lower Willow Street and Willow Street last night to come forward if they can assist with thins investigation – if they saw anything that might help, captured anything on their mobile phone or were driving in the area and have a dash cam.

“We currently have an area of Lower Willow Street and Willow Street cordoned off as we work to establish what occurred last night and do a full investigation of the scene.

“Officers are also in the area speaking to residents and reviewing CCTV around the time the offence occurred.”
