Man charged with murdering pensioner in Sutton-in-Ashfield

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a pensioner at his home in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Emergency services were called to Northfield Close at 00:55GMT on Friday 01 December, following reports of an assault.

A 76-year-old man was given CPR but died a short time later, and a 53-year-old man has since been arrested.

Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed he has been charged with murder.

Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have a team of detectives working tirelessly on this investigation and a man has now been charged with murder.

“I would like to reassure residents we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and our inquiries will continue.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and all who knew him."
