It was the day Leicester City fans hoped they would never see - the club have been relegated from the Premier League.

The Foxes managed to beat West Ham 2-1 but it wasn't enough because of Everton's win over Bournemouth.

They've become only the second club who've won the Premier League to then suffer relegation.

It was an amazing run which saw them take the title 7 years ago.

They also won the FA cup and competed in the champions league.

But now it's over - at least for the moment.

Leicester will play in the championship next season.

Unfortunately I felt we were just a little lacking in belief

Dean Smith took over the manager's job less than 2 months ago.

He said: "These 7 weeks have been really good, I think I've only had to get into them once in the training session."

"Unfortunately I felt we were just a little lacking in belief when we first came here."

"I thought we gained confident but we just didn't pick up points."

"We've had too many goals against us which has cost us."

"Massive disappointment for everybody that it's come to this and we get relegated."

"I can only really look at my 7 weeks and 8 games here and reflect on that."

"I always felt coming in it was going to be tough- I thought the confidence and belief was low."

We're a great club and we'll bounce back

"I felt we'd need at least 11 points to stay up."

"Ultimately it was 11 points and we only got 9 so in that regard I failed but in terms of turning around confidence - yes we got that but we left a couple of points out there."

Defender Jonny Evans spoke to Sky Sports News yesterday.

He admits it's been a dreadful season.

"Everyone wants to blame certain things but as a club we haven't been good enough."

"That's where we find ourselves - but we're a great club and we'll bounce back, I've no doubt about it."
