JAILED: Nottingham teen sentenced over double stabbing

A teenager who stabbed two men during a large fight in the street has been locked up.

Michael Nxusani pulled out the blade during a brawl between rival groups in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city, in the early hours of 5th December 2021.

One man was stabbed twice in the leg and another was stabbed five times in his legs and buttocks.

19 year old Nxusani, of Grassington Road, Nottingham city, was given a custodial sentence of six years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 30th January.

He was convicted last October of two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one offence of possession of a knife in a public place.

Police were called to the scene at around 3.30am after an earlier incident in a nightclub had spilled onto nearby streets.

Detectives analysed hours of CCTV footage with much of the fight caught on camera.

It is believed the first victim was stabbed when he was taken behind a parked van. Nxusani can be seen kneeling down with his arm going backwards and forwards in a stabbing motion.

Moments later, Nxusani was seen with an object, believed to be a knife, in his left hand. He was seen making a stabbing motion on multiple occasions as he attacked the second victim.

Detective Constable Emma Lamb, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely violent incident and detectives worked very hard to build a case against Nxusani.

“It was a large altercation involving a number of people and was a very confusing situation. Thanks to excellent CCTV coverage in the area we were able to identify Nxusani as the individual who delivered the blows with a knife.

“Violent disorder like this has no place in society and anyone engaging in this sort of behaviour can expect a robust response from the force.

"Every incident involving a knife has the potential to be serious and shows why we continue to work relentlessly to take knives off the street and educate people about the dangers of carrying them.”

On release, Nxusani will serve a further three years on licence.

Four other people pleaded guilty to violent disorder in July 2022 in relation to the incident and are awaiting sentencing.

Another suspect, a 23-year-old man, is due to stand trial for violent disorder in April.

The force’s two dedicated knife crime teams work tirelessly day in and day out to combat the issue and schools and early intervention officers continue to positively engage with schools and young people across the county to deliver education and interventions.
