Detectives investigating a Christmas day murder in Nottingham have made a fourth arrest.

Officers attended Wollaton Road at around 8.15pm on Christmas Day following reports of an assault.

The 29-year-old victim – who has now been formally identified as Reece Connor – sustained a single stab wound.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance following the incident but died from his injuries shortly afterwards.

Mr Connor’s family have been told and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Arrests

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Boxing day morning (26 December), with police then arresting a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder later in the day.

Police also arrested two further suspects, aged 32 and 26, for murder, with both men having previously been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All four suspects remain in police custody.

"Ongoing investigation"

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Croome, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “I’d once again like to pass on my condolences to Mr Connor’s loved ones during what must be an incredibly difficult time for them.

“A large team of officers have been investigating the attack that took Mr Connor’s life since it happened and we have now arrested four suspects.

“This is still very much an ongoing investigation however, so we’d again ask anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident and spotted anything suspicious to contact us immediately.

“We’d also like to hear from residents or motorists with any CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage that could assist our inquiries.

“Any piece of information, however small it might seem, could make a huge difference in helping us fully understand what happened.”
