Ashby-de-la-Zouch: Police arrest man after body found in hedge
Police believe man who was hit by a car to be Thomas Hunter, who was reported missing on Sunday
Polices have made an arrest after a non-stop collision in Ashby.
Detectives found the body of a man, just after 8.30am yesterday (Monday 11 December) in some hedges on Burton Road.
It’s believed the deceased was walking along Burton Road, in the early hours of Sunday morning when he was hit by a car, which failed to stop at the scene.
Last night a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He remains in police custody.
On Sunday evening a man was reported missing to Derbyshire Constabulary and it’s believed the deceased may be missing man, Thomas Hunter.
Formal identification is yet to take place but Leicestershire Police says it is working with Derbyshire Constabulary.
Investigations continue with police looking for information from those driving along Burton Road at the time of the incident.
