Woman has 'noxious substance' injected in her at Nuneaton nightclub

Police have described it as an 'extremely concerning incident'

Police are appealing for witnesses after reports a woman was injected with a 'noxious substance' in a Nuneaton nighclub.

The incident occurred in Popworld in Church Street in the early hours of Sunday morning (31 October). It was reported to police at 1.20am.

The woman – who is in her 20s – was taken to hospital and later released.

Detective Inspector Nigel Collins said: “This is an extremely concerning incident and we will carry out a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened. Blood samples have been taken from the victim and this will help us piece together exactly what happened last night.

“I would like to thank the public and staff at the venue for their ongoing support with our investigation.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in Popworld last night, anyone with video or photos from the venue or anyone else who believes they may have had something administered to them.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 31 of 31 October 2021. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
