A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a row of terraced houses in Telford.

Six crews were sent to the scene on Lawns Wood in Malinslee after the fire began at around 4.40am this morning (23 August).

A number of people were evacuated from their homes, with one teenage boy treated by paramedics.

The first-floor of the end-of-terrace house was completely gutted, with the neighbouring property also badly damaged.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue chiefs said crews managed to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said this afternoon: "We can confirm that a 46-year-old woman has been arrested in suspicion of arson."
