West Midlands Police deliver intensive 24-hour operation in Coventry
Operation Advance has already been run in Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
West Midlands Police is delivering 24 hours of intensive policing operations in Coventry today, as part of their new force wide initiative which will run throughout the year.
Operation Advance will see staff and officers from every policing department working together to focus on policing across the city.
This will include enforcement and education to assist in dealing with a range of issues from serious youth crime, keeping the roads safe and preventing anti-social behaviour.
The operation has already been successfully run in Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
Chief Superintendent Pete Henrick is the commander of Coventry Local Policing Area (LPA).
He said: "We’ve had a period of change after introducing a more localised policing model, which has increased the number of dedicated officers working across the city.
"This came into force in April and has enabled us to get an even better understanding of what matters most to our communities and the best way to deal with the priorities.
"We'll have the support of specialist departments like the drones team, roads policing and dog unit alongside some of our existing teams for concentrated activity."
There are real time updates throughout the day including videos and images of operations and updates on the force's X (formerly Twitter) account:
Chief Superintendent Pete Henrick continued: "It’s important to stress we have officers here in Coventry every second of every day, of every month who are working tirelessly to keep you safe and bring criminals to justice.
"What we’re doing today aims to shine a light on some of the existing work which is ongoing and also take advantage of additional resources to make even more of an impact.
"We’ll be responding to your calls of service as we usually do alongside this activity."
You can keep up to date with all of the policing action via their social media, website, and WM Now.
