Warwickshire men arrested on suspicion of driving and drug offences
Police say the two men were acting suspiciously.
Two Nuneaton men have been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving, drugs, and weapon offences after a car was stopped and searched in Bedworth.
Officers witnessed the driver and passenger of a red Ford Fiesta acting suspiciously and carrying out what they believed to be a drugs deal on Monday evening (21 August).
When they attempted to pull the vehicle over on Astley Lane in Bedworth it failed to stop and a short pursuit followed, which saw the driver go through a red light and travel on the wrong side of the road.
After a few minutes, the vehicle stopped on Park Lane in Nuneaton and officers carried out a search – seizing various weapons, a number of immitation firearms, a quantity of what was thought to be cannabis, and a quantity of cash.
A 29-year-old man from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drugs – possession with intent to supply other than class A
- Possession of offensive weapon
- Driving – failing to stop when directed
- Dangerous driving
- Possession of firearms offences
- Money laundering
A 26-year-old man – also from Nuneaton – was arrested on suspicion of:
- Drugs – possession with intent to supply other than class A
- Possession of offensive weapon
- Possession of firearms offences
- Money laundering
Both men have been bailed until mid-November while enquiries continue.
