University pays tribute to 'exceptional student' killed in suspected hit-and-run in Oswestry

The university of a 22 year-old student, who was killed in Shropshire at the weekend, has released a statement after her death.
Rebecca Steer was hit by a car, after it drove up onto the pavement outside a takeaway in Oswestry, in the early hours of Sunday morning and died from her injuries.
A second person suffered serious injuries and has since been released from hospital.
In a statement, Rebecca's university - Liverpool John Moores - said:
"Staff at Liverpool John Moores University, where Becky was a criminal justice undergraduate, described Becky as a “very special person, an exceptional student, friend and inspiration to many.”
A university spokesperson said: “The whole university community is stunned and extremely saddened.
"Becky was an excellent, dedicated student with a real ambition to be a police officer. She was the one that stayed behind to ask questions after every session.
“A budding talent and admirable young woman, we were privileged to have her as a student.
“Becky will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones at this tragic time.”
In an update in its investigation West Murcia police said:
'A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. A further two men, aged 31 and 46 have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in police custody.
The 28-year-old man who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder remains in police custody.
The second pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle has now been released from hospital.
