Two men charged after police threatened with gun in Birmingham

Two men have been charged after police were threatened with a gun after stopping a car in Birmingham.

A weapon was pointed at officers in The Radleys, near Marston Green, during the early hours of last Monday (19 February). The vehicle then made off.

Following enquiries, West Midlands Police say the men have been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Andrew Beckett, aged 36 from Solihull, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday where he was remanded to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on 22 March.

Anthony Briscoe, aged 37 from Birmingham, appeared before magistrates on Saturday and was released on bail to also appear Birmingham Crown Court on 22 March.

The arrests are part of Operation Target - which is West Midlands Police's response to tackle serious and organised crime.
