Two people have been arrested following a spate of robberies targeting school children in Sutton Coldfield.

Police are investigating nine robberies that have happened since 13 September where teenagers have been targeted for their mobile phones.

On Friday 6 October police arrested two 13-year-old boys on suspicion of robbery. They've been bailed with strict conditions.

Investigations into the robberies are still continuing and Police need people to come forward with information so that they can identify and take action against anyone that’s involved.

Sergeant Frances Clark, from Stechford local policing area, said: "We understand that people have been concerned about the spate of robberies we've seen recently.

"I want to reassure people that we have been working with our partners, local schools and colleagues within the Safer Travel team to ensure the safety of our young people in the area.

"We've held enforcement days and operations and our officers have visited schools to give talks on how to stay safe.

"The arrests are part of the work we are doing and we've been able to put conditions in place which includes ensuring the boys stay away from Sutton Coldfield town centre.

"We believe there was a group of people involved in committing these robberies and need people to continue to come forward with information.”
