Tributes paid to Wolverhampton stabbing victim

The mother of a teenager killed in a stabbing in Wolverhampton has paid tribute to him - calling him a "courageous, compassionate and confident young soul."

Shawn Seesahai was stabbed to death in Wolverhampton on Monday evening.

Two 12-year-old boys remain in custody on suspicion of his murder and detectives have been granted a warrant of further detention to question them further.

Shawn was with friends on Monday evening at the time of the attack on open land off Laburnum Road, East Park. Sadly he died at the scene.

Shawn’s mother has said: “Shawn Seesahai was a courageous, compassionate and confident young soul who sadly lost his life at the age of 19.

“He was looking forward to accomplish many future plans and ambitions. He cared dearly about his family and friends and he absolutely loved to help people. He was a generous person and had a good personality.

“We will always have him in our hearts.”

Police say they are continuing patrols in the area where the attack took place - and say they're understand the local community are concerned.

Officers are urging people not to speculate on social media and let detectives continue with their investigation.

West Midlands Police say their thoughts are with the family of Shawn in their time of grief.
