Three teenagers charged after months of thefts on canal towpaths

The three individuals are all aged 17 years-old.

West Midlands Police have confirmed three teenagers have been charged following a series of robberies on canal towpaths.

The 17-year-olds, cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning.

The three are accused of robbing students and threatening them with weapons in a series of offences stretching back six months.

West Midlands Police said:

"Officers have been carrying out regular patrols in response to these incidents and we work closely with the universities in the region to keep students safe."
