Thieves target under-pressure food bank in Birmingham
Bosses at Aston and Nechells Foodbank are spending around £3,000 to fill stock gaps
A food bank in Birmingham, which is having to spend thousands of pounds a month to fill stock gaps, has had its laptops, tablets and cash stolen.
Thieves broke into Aston and Nechells Foodbank on Tuesday night, damaging the door, windows and cabinets.
Bosses say they now have no way of inputting data at the centre to keep track of the people they're supporting.
Kerry Lenihan, director of the food bank said the incident is "so frustrating especially in current times."
Like food banks across the city, Aston and Nechells has seen demand for its services increase dramatically, whilst the cost-of-living crisis has also meant fewer people donating food and essential items.
Kerry added: "It's just such a blow as we're already spending in excess of £3k to fill stock gaps."
People have been sending messages of support to the charity, along with offers of donations to help.
