Two teenagers are due to appear in court today (2nd November), in connection with an attack on a delivery driver in Coventry.

It is alleged that on Tuesday (30th November), the woman was delivering parcels in Shilton Lane when she was threatened with a machete.

The boys, who can't be named for legal reasons, have been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article.

The 14 and 15-year-old are due at Coventry Magistrates Court.

In a statement, West Midlands Police added: 'Ahead of the Christmas shopping period we issued some safety advice and asked people to look out for delivery drivers. There’s always a huge rise in online sales and deliveries at this time of year. But for those making those important deliveries, it may also mean a rise in attacks.

'If you are a victim or witness a crime like this it’s really important that we receive accurate information about what happened as quickly as possible. This increases our chances of finding and arresting the offenders.'
