A combat knife has been seized from a teenager Sutton Coldfield amid an operation to tackle youth violence.

Officers were in the town on Friday as part of Operation Guardian - a team dedicated to tackling violent crime committed by under-25s.

It comes after several incidents of disorder at the end of the school day.

At 3:30pm a 15 year old was searched on Newhall Walk and was fund to be carrying a large knife and cannabis.

He was later charged with knife possession and drug dealing.

Another teenager was later stopped after being seen with a balaclava rolled up over his head. A 17 year old was briefly detained after interfering with the search.

Police say they'll be reviewing their procedures after footage of the incident was circulated on social media.
