Special Eurovision train carrying 'super-fans' departs Birmingham
The London Northwestern Railway service has been re-branded
A special Eurovision train has departed Birmingham today (9 May) carrying dozens of 'super-fans' to Liverpool.
The London Northwestern Railway (LNR) train has been given a new look to celebrate Eurovision, after being wrapped in the distinctive yellow and blue official branding.
LNR, which runs services from Liverpool to London via the West Midlands, designated today’s 12.34pm departure from Birmingham New Street to Liverpool Lime Street a “Eurovision Special”.
Dozens of Eurovision “Super-Fans” climbed on board for the special trip, featuring face painting, musical entertainment and culminating in a party on the platform with fellow Eurovision fans in Liverpool.
Anyone who spots the branded train out and about on the network is being invited to take a photo and tag LNR’s social media accounts with #EurovisionTrain to be in with a chance of winning great prizes.
Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said: “The Eurovision Song Contest is a major international event which is bringing a huge economic boost to Liverpool and the wider UK.
“I am delighted we have been able to celebrate the UK hosting Eurovision for the first time in a quarter of a century by wrapping one of our Class 350 trains in the distinctive official branding. Any passenger who snaps a photo of the train out and about on the network can win some great prizes, so I encourage everyone to get involved.”
