Smoke plume over Birmingham factory fire
Shady Lane has been closed and local bus routes have been affected.
Around 60 firefighters are tackling a factory fire in Birmingham this morning (27 December), which is affecting travel in the area.
Shortly after 8.20am, West Midlands Fire Service responded to a blaze at a factory unit on Shady Lane, in the Queslett area of Birmingham.
Twelve fire engines, three 4Ă—4 brigade response vehicles, and a hydraulic aerial platform are currently in attendance, crewed by the firefighters.
It is said to be a significant fire in a single-storey unit, but there have been no reported casualties at this time.
West Midlands Police are also in attendance, assisting with traffic measures.
Shady Lane is closed and local bus routes will be affected as the crew work at the scene.
Homes and businesses nearby affected by the smoke plume are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
