Seven men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shots fired

Seven men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and several vehicles have been seized after shots were fired in Birmingham.

Firearms officers were called out shortly before 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon to Hockley Close - which they cordoned off for forensic examinations.

West Midlands Police then undertook 'fast-track' CCTV investigations - and tracked the seven men down with the help of a police helicopter.

The men all currently remain in custody.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We understand that this will have been alarming for local residents and we want to reassure them that we believe this was a targeted attack and we have swiftly made arrests.

"There will be an increased police presence over the Bank Holiday weekend and would ask anyone with concerns to speak to us."

Investigations into what happened are ongoing.
