Residents in Sandwell are due to protest against the strike action being taken by refuse workers.

Members of the GMB Union have been taking industrial action for five weeks, meaning bins are being left unemptied.

MP for West Bromwich West Shaun Bailey has organised the demonstration, saying on Facebook that "enough is enough".

It is taking place at Sandwell Council House in Oldbury from 3:30pm until 7pm as people urge the authority and its waste contractor, Serco, to reach an agreement with workers.

The union said workers are being offered a below-inflation pay rise, but Serco said the deal is "fair and reasonable".
