Police shut major Birmingham road as shooting investigation gets underway

Cordons are up on Hamstead Road after a man was shot in the early hours of this morning.

Police are on the scene on Hamstead Road in Birmingham after a man suffered gunshot wounds this morning.

West Midlands Police said: "We're investigating after a man presented at hospital with gunshot injuries at just after 4.30am today (1 February).

"Following initial enquiries it's believed the shooting may have taken place on Hamstead Road. The man’s injuries are not understood to be life-threatening.

"We're in the early stages of our investigation and a scene is in place as we carry out CCTV and other enquiries.
