A police officer has been taken to hospital, after being cut out of a car, following a crash in Birmingham city centre.

The police vehicle was in collision with a taxi on St Chads Queensway on Saturday morning.

The road is currently closed at Snow Hill Queensway while emergency services deal with the incident.

We're told another officer received minor injuries, but the taxi driver and a passenger were not hurt.

Earlier, West Midlands Roads posted on X, formerly Twitter: "A4400 Queensway. Road Traffic Collision. Closures at the Old Snow Hill/Snow Hill Queensway interchange.

"Emergency services on scene. Bus services impacted. Expect delays. Consider alternative routes."

We're awaiting further details from West Midlands Police.
