Man arrested after police officer assaulted in Leamington

The officer suffered swelling to their face

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences following an incident in Leamington yesterday (Tuesday 29 March), in which a police officer was assaulted.

At around 1pm, two men were searched by officers in Covent Garden car park. An amount of suspected cannabis, class A drugs, mobile phones and cash were found and seized.

During the incident, an officer was assaulted to the face, causing swelling.

A 24-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer and concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and a 25-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying controlled drugs, criminal damage and escaping lawful custody.

Both have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
