Pensioner dies after being hit by car in Solihull

The man, 87, suffered serious injuries and passed away in hospital

Police are investigating after a man in his 80s died following a collision on Warwick Road in the Olton area of Solihull last night (17 January).

The man, aged 87, was hit by a red Ford Fiesta at the junction with Grange Road at around 6pm. He suffered serious injuries and passed away in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this sad and distressing time.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with dashcam footage is urged to get in contact with us as we work to establish exactly what happened.
