Pedestrian dies in Birmingham city centre crash

A man's died in the centre of Birmingham

West Midlands Police say the man was hit by a vehicle at the junction of Moor Street and Park Street, near Moor Street station.

It happened just after 11:00 this morning (Monday 16th December), with roads around the area expected to stay closed for several hours.

Bus services are being diverted and are stopping at Birmingham markets.

A driver who stopped at the scene is assisting with enquiries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“Crews arrived to discover the pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the vehicle, a man, was assessed at the scene and taken to City Hospital.
