A man's been jailed for assaulting a woman in Nuneaton.

On 9 November last year, Tayler Duncan and his victim had been out in Nuneaton when an argument started between them.

As they went back through the town Duncan assaulted the woman, biting her on the nose, and spitting at her.

The disagreement continued after they returned to the victim’s flat where Duncan pulled lumps of the victim’s hair out and strangled her. He then punched her in the face leaving her with a black eye.

Duncan, 32, of Moor Street, Coventry pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and assault.

He was also convicted of two counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of assault and one count of making threats to kill. These were all offences against the same victim in Coventry between July 2022 and March 2023.

Duncan was jailed for five-and-a-half years.

PC Jas Hayre said: “Duncan is quite clearly a danger to women. The victim was subject to brutal attacks. The victim was extremely vulnerable, and the outcome could have been so much worse – strangulation is terrifying and if done even momentarily can be very serious.

“I am pleased that Duncan has been convicted and received a substantial sentence, this will help to safeguard women from his abuse.”
