'The Black Pounds Project' has set up a store selling products from black business owners as part of Black History month.

CJ Lloyd Webley founded the project in 2020, helping support black entrepreneurs and people from diverse communities across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

And the store is the project's latest venture, open from the 9th to the 29th October in the Great Western Arcade in Birmingham.

The shop is selling a range of products from black business owners including jewellery, clothes and health care.

CJ tells us: "It's so important to have a shop like this to focus on communities that are perhaps not normally in the mainstream stores.

"For me it just feels very special to know there's a space where there is so much foot traffic and people are seeing products that they probably wouldn't have seen before, or come into a shop like this. Having a space that is accessible like this is really special," he says.

Going forward CJ would like to help more business owners tell their story, and even says the shop might become a permanent feature to Birmingham.
