Murder investigation after man stabbed in Birmingham

Police have started a murder investigation after a man was found with stab injuries in Handsworth Wood just after 11pm on Friday night (21 Oct).

Ambulance colleagues battled to save the 29-year-old, but he sadly died at the scene in Washington Drive.

A cordon is in place while forensic investigations are carried out and police are conducting house to house enquiries. Extra officers will be in the area on patrol over the next few days.

Detective Inspector Jim Mahon, from our homicide unit, said: “We are in the very early stages of our enquiry and we are asking anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to us to come forward.

“The victim’s family have been informed and we have specialist family liaison officers with them after hearing just devastating news.”
