A 48-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a crash on a major road in Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police said the crash happened on the A46 in Evesham, with the bike leaving the road and crashing into a lamppost.

It happened at around 5.50pm on Wednesday 30 August a Honda motorcycle was travelling southbound from the direction of Salford Priors towards the Twyford roundabout, the force added.

On Thursday, a spokesperson confirmed a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to reports of a motorbike that had crashed into a lamppost at the junction of the A44 and A46 in Twyford, Evesham, at 5.41pm.

One ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

An off-duty firefighter also stopped at the scene and was providing medical assistance on the arrival of ambulance staff.

A spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Anyone with information or dash cam footage can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, police said.
