A man is starting a prison sentence after being found guilty of attacking another man in Birmingham with two machetes.

28 year old Jordan O'Conner, of Dolman Road, arranged to meet his victim in January in Pype Hayes.

Armed with the weapons he stabbed the man, wounding him the back.

He then smashed the window of a car and threatened another man before fleeing the scene.

His 27 year old victim was treated in hospital for his injuries and needed surgery.

Officers found the two machetes dumped in a nearby park.

They also managed to seize items of clothing, recover CCTV footage and speak to several witnesses.

O'Connor was arrested the next day and later charged.

Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, O’Connor admitted wounding, criminal damage, possession of two bladed weapons and affray.

He was sentenced to six years and nine months behind bars and will spend three years on licence.
