Man jailed after gun found in Birmingham
Ahmad Sharifi was sentenced to five years in prison.
A man has been jailed after police found a handgun and ammunition at an address in Birmingham.
They were acting on information before executing a warrant in Cotterills Lane, Ward End, on 30 April this year.
Ahmad Sharifi was arrested from the address and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences and was jailed for five years at Birmingham Crown Court last Monday (14 August).
West Midlands Police said: "Every gun we take off the streets reduces the risk of harm to others. We remain committed to combating gun crime throughout the region.
"We've launched Operation Target to take a defiant stand against serious and organised crime offences – from drug dealing and burglary, to cyber-crime and fraud - as part of our ongoing work to catch offenders and keep you safe."
