Emergency services responded to a shed fire in Nuneaton during the early hours of the morning (27 September), where a man has died.

Warwickshire Police and Fire Service, as well as West Midlands Ambulance Service, received a call just after 3am of a fire that took place at a property on Middlefield Lane.

A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted to reports of a domestic fire on Middlefield Lane in Nuneaton. On arrival, crews found a building at the rear of the house alight. Crews tackled the fire using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and small gear."

One ambulance and a paramedic officer also attended the scene, where they discovered one patient.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious and a police investigation is ongoing, as Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) officers engage with residents in the surrounding area.
