Man dies after being pulled from River Severn in Shrewsbury

A 32-year-old man who was rescued from the River Severn in Shrewsbury last week has died in hospital.

Emergency services were called to near Victoria Quay on Friday night (4 April), after someone was spotted in the water by a member of the public.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was described as being in a 'critical condition', but has since passed away.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that sadly the 32-year-old man who was rescued from the River Severn on Friday (1 April) night has since died in hospital.

“Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
