Man dies after Alcester collision

Police responded to reports of a collision involving a car and a bicycle on the northbound carriageway of the A46 between Salford Priors and Alcester at approximately 7.20pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision on the A46 near Alcester yesterday evening (14 July).

Ambulance crews, paramedics and an air ambulance were in attendance but despite best efforts, the cyclist, a 47-year-old-man from Birmingham, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

It is believed that the deceased had been taking part in an organised cycle time trial event at the time of the incident.

The driver of the vehicle was assessed by paramedics and released.

Next of kin have been informed.
